Combine the sesame oil, soya sauce, water, sugar, pear, garlic and ginger and blend until smooth.
Remove the skin and bones from the turkey thighs and cut each thigh into 4 pieces. Mix the turkey with the marinade and refrigerate for 30 minutes or longer.
Heat a barbecue grill or large sauté pan to medium high and sear turkey on both sides until very dark and charred in some spots.
Adjust heat to low and continue cooking until turkey is cooked. A meat thermometer will read 170°F (77°C) when the meat is fully cooked.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
